Cape Tribulation is where the world’s oldest continually surviving tropical rainforests meet the world’s greatest living tropical reef, The Great Barrier Reef. Includes Mossman Gorge, lunch and crocodile wildlife spotting cruise. Enjoy a refreshing swim in the cascading waters in the Daintree Rainforest
Commence the adventure with a scenic coastal drive from Cairns to Port Douglas. This is the far north’s very own great ocean road and provides panoramic views over the sparkling Coral Sea. Heading north our first stop is at Mossman Gorge, which is in the southern sector of the world-famous Daintree National Park. This gorge has been carved out by the cold mountain waters of the Mossman River, which winds through large granite boulders, bordered by lush green rainforest. It is a place of great cultural significance to the traditional landowners, the Kuku Yalanji people, who will receive you with a “Welcome to Country Smoke Ceremony”.
Next, embark on a guided tour of the ancient Mossman Gorge rainforest. Our expert guides will provide fascinating insights into this remarkable ecosystem, ensuring an informative and memorable experience. Discover the incredible biodiversity, from ground-level ferns and shrubs to the towering rainforest canopy. You’ll also have the chance to take a refreshing swim in the pristine, cascading waters of the gorge (subject to weather conditions)
Continuing north we stop in Daintree Village for lunch before you join a Wildlife Cruise on the Daintree River spotting local wildlife and possibly a few crocodiles, while learning about the fragile ecosystem of this impressive serpent-like river system.
You are now on the north side on the Daintree River where our guide will meet you for you next stop. We head to Thornton’s Beach – where the rainforest meets the reef. Enjoy the beautiful views of the lower ranges of Thornton Peak.
Pending time we will stop at – the Daintree Ice Cream Co – where you can enjoy deliciously exotic fruit ice cream made on site, in small artisan style batches. Yum! [At own cost.]
Then it’s back on to the bus for the return journey to Cairns, including a quick drive through the picturesque beachside village of Port Douglas.
