Mossman River, Daintree National Park, Queensland, Australia

Daintree & Cooktown Tours

What makes the Daintree & Cooktown tours so special? At around 1,200 square kilometres, the Daintree is a part of the largest continuous area of tropical rainforest on the Australian continent. The Daintree National Park is comprised of two sections—Mossman Gorge and Cape Tribulation. The crystal-clear waters of the Mossman River cascade over granite boulders in Mossman Gorge while Cape Tribulation features rainforest-clad mountains that sweep down to long sandy beaches, where the Reef meets the Rainforest. Explore both these areas on your tour of Discovery to the Daintree Rainforest.
Cooktown is close to my heart as I owned and operated Adventure North Australia, Cooktown 4WD Adventures for 15 years, and sold the company in May 2019. Cooktown is a unique, off the tourist beaten-track destination and well worth the visit.
Cooktown is 246km north of Cairns via the 4WD only Bloomfield Track through the heart of the World Heritage Daintree Rainforest. One of Australia’s most historically significant townships, Cooktown is the location where lieutenant James Cook spent almost seven weeks repairing his vessel the HM Bark Endeavour.
The facts as to his rank are that James Cook was a lieutenant on his first voyage, during which he sailed to Australia on the Endeavour 1768-1771. On his next Voyage he was promoted to Commander on the (Resolution 1772-1775)
Some of the most extraordinary discoveries and interactions with local Aboriginal people occurred in Cooktown in 1770 but….the history is just the beginning! Cooktown provides something for everyone including exquisite botanic gardens, heritage-listed buildings and museums, beaches, waterfalls, and Aboriginal Rock Art Tours. A truly unique Far North Queensland travel destination.

The road hugs the mountain side, and we stop at Rex Lookout to enjoy stunning views of the Coral Sea. From here, we continue to Port Douglas, picking up any extra guests and stopping at Flagstaff Hill, which overlooks the famous 4 Mile Beach.

Our small group Rainforest tours are conducted in comfortable, air-conditioned, late-model vehicles, ensuring a pleasant journey throughout. Don't forget to pack your swimming gear for an opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the natural beauty of your own paradise.
